"Where the Wild Things Are" by Rachel Davidson
"over a year
and in and out of weeks
and through a day”
I travel through the lives of my students in Hokkaido, a queen of the wild things. Their world is still mysterious to me, but their creative energy becomes rays of sun, dispelling the fog and bringing fresh light. We study, play, sing, even hike through town together, learning every step of the way.
One day I will return to my very own room at home, where my still-hot supper is waiting for me – but for now, the wild rumpus is roaring along.
